Ever since Paddington started working in the garden, it's been a bit quieter in the Brown household. But with Paddington around, things never stay quiet for long. From a paw-sticking toffee disaster to a slight scorching of Father Christmas's beard, Paddington brings a splash of adventure to every day.

Paddington at Large is the fifth novel by Michael Bond, chronicling the adventures of this classic character. Paddington has warmed the hearts of generations of readers with his earnest good intentions and humorous misadventures.

Paddington Bear is up to his furry ears in treacle and trouble in this classic story. Hugh Bonneville's ("Downton Abbey") spirited narration brings out the lovable bear's charming, albeit chaos-producing, curiosity in his day-to-day activities. Among his misadventures, Paddington attempts to do things for others--with disastrous results. He good-naturedly helps his neighbor, makes toffee, and plays his part in a local theater production. Sporting a medley of voices, Bonneville captures the diverse personalities of local townsfolk who come into contact with Paddington, such as the colorful characters in the department store. Equally entertaining are Bonneville's falsetto voices for the female roles, including the patient Mrs. Brown and the sometimes-flustered Mrs. Bird, who do their best to guide Paddington and help him fix his mistakes. A delightful listening experience. M.F. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine

Paddington remains as ingenuous and endearing as ever in these short stories, whether he's riding a runaway lawnmower, trying his paw at taffy making, or appearing as a contestant on a TV quiz show. The seven episodes collected in this inexpensive paper-over-board edition are accompanied by loose, expressive pen-and-ink drawings.
